This week in ELA:
Students continued to make connections while they read different stories in class.
We worked on writing stories to include key elements of character, plot including a problem & solution, and a setting.
Our spelling words focused on initial consonants this past week.
We will finish with theme 1 in the beginning of next week and move into theme 2.

This week in math:
We continue to work on skills that are review; telling & writing time on an analog clock, counting money and comparing amounts, recording data in a tally chart and creating a bar graph, and working with equivalent numbers. Please continue to work on the basic facts with your child to increase his/her rapid recall.
This week in social studies:
This week we learned a great deal about urban parks. We learned about Frederick Law Olmstead and the reasons he wanted to design urban parks in the 1800's. This week students designed and created their own urban parks. They are turning out beautifully! If they did not finish in class this week, they may complete them at home. They are due Wednesday, September 23.
This week in religion:
Students were given pocket sized Mass booklets. These booklets explain the parts of the Mass, what is being said, and when it is appropriate for the congregation to respond. We hope this will give them more confidence and knowledge when it comes time to participate in the Mass whether it's an all school Mass or a unit (3-5) Mass in the Historic Church.
